POSITION:      DIRECTOR of COMMUNICATIONS/SPECIAL PROJECTS
 
QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Bachelor’s Degree with Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Valid New Jersey principal or supervisory certification.
  • Demonstrated capability in the discharging of executive duties.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills that relates effectively with staff, students, administration, parents and the community.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to identify important issues or problems in area of responsibility.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven expertise with computer/computer programs.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Editorial Direction
  • Exercise oversight and judgment for district print and electronic publications including final review and approval of design, layout, copy and content.
  • Responsible for coordinating clear and concise production of internal and external school publications such as executive presentation, annual reports, news releases, newsletters, advertisements, letters, informational handouts, brochures, video presentations, internal and external marquees/monitors and signage displays, etc.
  • Review the production of all school publications, including handbooks, event invitations and programs, etc.
Advertising and Public Relations
  • Manage the planning and implementation of all aspects of communications to promote a positive image of the district in line with its vision and mission.
Leadership Communications
  • Exhibit and foster support for the district’s vision, mission, goals and priorities.
  • Coordinate communications activities to assist with the development and dissemination of information as related to district events, activities and programs.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with district administration and staff in carrying out the policies and mission of the district.
  • Review and recommend changes and initiatives appropriate to the maintenance of a positive district image.
  • Supervise communications support staff.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the archival photo/video library for all PCTI programs and events.
  • Assist other administrators in the coordination of details for their specific departmental events upon request of the Superintendent.
Media Relations
  • Organize and coordinate a proactive program of media relations designed to promote the district’s goals and achievements and integrate all aspects of district communications.
  • Respond to media inquiries with accurate information as directed by the Superintendent.
  • Support fellow district administration and staff in meetings or media events as needed.
Audio Visual
  • Supervise and oversee district’s audio/visual program and other audio/visual communications vehicles including final review and approval of productions, copy and content.
  • Supervise the district’s audio-visual technicians and staff in the performance of their duties and service to the district.
School Store
  • Supervise school store manager
  • Oversee the management and operations of the school store
Website and Social Media
  • Oversee and manage the district website and social media platforms and supervise a consistent flow of information to all stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities:
·      Perform all other tasks and directives that may be assigned by the Superintendent.
·      Conduct annual faculty observations and complete observation documents as needed.
·      Gather necessary material and prepare reports for public meetings and correspondence and reports as required by the Superintendent.
·      Protect confidentiality of records and information about staff and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines.
·      Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.
 
SALARY:                     12-month position, To be determined by the Board
