QUALIFICATIONS:
- The qualified candidate should have 5 years administrative experience
- District-wide and Special Education administrative experience preferred
- Broad knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- NJ School Administrator Certificate or Eligibility for same
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise, plan, and develop Child Study Team assignments and activities to meet district and department goals and legal mandates
- Compliance and implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and N.J.A.C. 6A:14-1.1 et seq., and experience in the implementation of legal requirements regarding programs and procedures with respect to classified students
- Oversee Special Education Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Speech/Language Specialists, School Nurses, Occupational/Physical Therapists, School Counselors, and assigned Clerical Staff
- Effectively communicate with administrators, community agencies, parents and committee groups
- Oversee the district's participation in the Special Education Medicaid Initiative (SEMI)
- Coordinate and submit required applications for state and federal projects, including the IDEA Consolidated Grant, Extraordinary Aid, and the Special Education portion of School State Aid (ASSA)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-Month Position
