Art Teacher - Part Time

New Road School of Parlin is seeking a highly self-motivated and creative Part Time Art Teacher.  Experience with students with cognitive and developmental disabilities preferred.  Must have knowledege of Google Classroom. The applicant must also be knowledgeable in instuctional practice and working with students at multiple academic and social levels.  Experience with behavioral management techniques a plus.

Art Teacher of Students with Disabilities

The New Road School of Parlin, Middlesex County, NJ is a private special education school serving developmentally disabled students aged 5 to 21.

Responsibilities:

1. Instructs students in art, such as painting, sketching, designing and sculpting.  Prepare lesson plans, develop curriculum and write lesson goals.

2. Evaluate students’ progress by preparing four (4) PowerSchool report cards, and two (2) Frontline progress reports. The due dates for the reports are set at the beginning of the school year.

3. Observes and evaluates pupils work to determine student progress or to make suggestions for improvement.
4. Provides instruction in the proper use of artistic materials and equipment, ensuring safe use.

5. Responsible for inventory of artistic supplies, use and distribution.
6. Develops and organizes the art show, student portfolios and art constest as requested by supervisor.
7. Participate in PLC's or committees to help plan and organize school events and activities.
8. Reports behavior difficulties to supervisor or appropraite staff member.
9. Completes at least twenty (20)hours of professional development training and submits hours at the end of the school year.

10. Adheres to health and safety standards, at no time should a student be left unsupervised in a classroom, outside activities or cummunity-based activities.

11. Attends all required staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
12. Prepares and be availabe for parent for parent teacher conferences when necessary.
13. Other duties as assigned by the Director/Principal.

• Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree from accredited college or university
  • NJ Certification - Teacher of Art

  Experience:

  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Special Needs: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Working With Students With Disabilities: 1 year (Preferred)

  Job Type: Part-time

            3 Days a week; Part-time Hours: 8:15am – 3:15pm; RSY - September 3rd, 2024 - June 13th, 2025 (except for in- service and staff meetings)
