Description Job Description/Summary:
The STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges is a highly-innovative 4-6 year early college program spanning grades 9-
14. The Academy exemplifies an early college model whereby students, from grade 9 on, navigate through a six-year
scope and sequence of high school and college coursework. Students will graduate with either an associate degree
(designed to prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities) or an associate equivalent. Major fields
of study offered include Computing Sciences, Programming and Design, Mechanical Engineering, and Biomedical
Engineering. The Academy provides a fully integrated STEM education model using engineering design, mathematical
analysis, and scientific investigation to leverage the natural connections between STEM subjects while offering multiple
pathways to post-secondary study. The school operates on an extended school day model with students attending from
8:30 am – 3:30 pm; teachers, from 8:15 am – 4 pm.

The Academy’s mission is to provide students, underrepresented in STEM college majors and careers, with a personalized
pathway towards mastery of the skills and knowledge that they will need to make the transition from education to college
and industry. Therefore, the district is seeking a highly-motivated and adept principal who assumes professional responsibility
for Serves as the educational leader and chief administrator of the high school, responsible for implementing and managing the
policies, regulations, and procedures of the Board of Education to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe student-centered
learning environment that meets and exceeds the State Core Curriculum Content Standards, following the approved curricula and
directives of the school. Achieving academic excellence requires that the High School Principal work collaboratively to lead and
nurture all members of the school staff and to communicate effectively with parents, members of the community, and colleagues
in other districts and schools. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for planning, curriculum development, program evaluation,
extracurricular activities, personnel management, financial management, emergency procedures, resource scheduling, and facilities
operations. Principals who qualify have advanced academic content knowledge and/or practical experience in their respective content areas;
have a strong research-base in STEM education, and possess the ability to convey expectations for high cognitive demand Project-Based
Learning models. Qualified principals are open-minded and flexible and willing to continuously learn, collaborate with colleagues and
teacher teams and make data driven decisions.
