Mathematics Coach (Leave Replacement)
Job Summary:
This position at Leonard V. Moore Middle School is for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. The Mathematics Coach will work closely with teachers to foster high-quality mathematics instruction through direct support, modeling, and coaching. This role requires a collaborative leader who can inspire instructional change, improve student engagement, and strengthen mathematical discourse and perseverance among students.
Qualifications:
New Jersey Instructional Certificate in Mathematics required.
Minimum of three years of mathematics teaching experience; a Master’s Degree in Education is preferred.
Proven coaching experience with both new and experienced teachers is preferred.
Strong understanding of New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) in Mathematics.
Demonstrated ability to build positive, trust-based relationships with teachers to facilitate growth and instructional change.
Experience with the Coaching Cycle and other instructional coaching frameworks for implementing effective teaching practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with teachers to support the delivery of standards-aligned, high-quality mathematics instruction that promotes student engagement, perseverance, and active mathematical discourse.
Facilitate professional growth through coaching, modeling, and providing actionable feedback, empowering teachers to implement strategies that encourage student resilience and problem-solving.
Support the implementation of a rigorous, standards-based curriculum, including targeted interventions.
Work closely with school leaders and teachers to analyze and use data to drive continuous improvement in instruction, leveraging spreadsheets and graphs to help visualize student performance data.
Serve as a motivator and collaborative guide, encouraging teachers to adopt innovative practices that promote student confidence and a growth mindset in mathematics.
