Transportation - Master Mechanic (2024 - 2025 School Year)

The Transportation Department is currently accepting applications for the position of a Master Mechanic.  This position will be responsible for the overall implementation of the district’s vehicle maintenance and repair program.  This full-time position is available February 3, 2025.

Required Qualifications:
  • Appropriate mechanical training and relevant work experience
  • Licensed School Bus Driver, CDL class A or B (Passenger, School Bus, and Air Brake Endorsements)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of air brakes and engines (propane and gasoline)

Examples of Responsibilities:
  • Manage the overall maintenance, repair, and condition of all school vehicles.
  • Perform vehicle repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Assist in the scheduling and preparation of driver and vehicle state inspections.
  • Assume the full responsibilities and duties of a substitute school bus driver as directed by the Director of Transportation.
  • Snow plow district facilities.
  • In accordance with the established system of authorized procurement, maintain inventory of parts and supplies, inclusive of the ordering of replacement items and the scheduling of required vehicle services.
