Englewood on the Palisades Charter School is seeking a dynamic, mission-aligned educator to join our team as a Middle School Social Studies Teacher.  

OVERVIEW:  The Englewood on the Palisades Charter School is a high-performing, innovative public charter school in Englewood NJ, serving students from K to 8th grade. ROLE DESCRIPTION:  Englewood on the Palisades Charter School is seeking a dynamic, mission-aligned educator to join our team as a Teacher. Teachers at Englewood on the Palisades Charter School are responsible for preparing each of our students for high intellectual performance through the use of high operational pedagogical practices. Teachers are models of the hard work, desire for learning, and character that we show and expect of our students.  

MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

Classroom Culture: 1) Maintain a positive learning environment where everyone feels valued. 2) Use time to maximize student learning and communicate a constant, tangible sense of urgency. 3) Ensure all students are on task through using effective and engaging pedagogical practices. 4) Build relationships with students and their families that demonstrate genuine care/concern and a sense of responsibility for students’ academic and personal growth.

Curriculum & Instruction: 1) Demonstrate solid knowledge and understanding of Social Studies content. 2) Establish, communicate, and demand high expectations for student learning, and work. 3) Use instructional strategies and create learning experiences that are academically challenging and highly engaging. 4) Execute detailed lesson plans mapped to a year-long academic plan to address learning needs. 5) Consistently convey to students that their work is important, that each student is capable, and that you will build a bridge to help each student reach their goals.  

Data Driven Instruction: 1) Track and analyze student data to identify student learning needs for the purpose of setting ambitious, attainable goals. 2) Plan and implement strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes and performance. 3)  Work collaboratively with the principal and other teachers to develop and revise curriculum based on assessment data.

QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 2) Demonstrate mastery of Social Studies content knowledge and ability to drive student growth. 3) Evidence of New Jersey  Department of Education certification (CE/CEAS/Provisional/Standard) or out of state certification. Required criminal history background, proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status, physical examination, and other required paperwork

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Our teachers are an integral part of our school-based instructional team and report to assigned school leadership, with regular coaching and support from our leadership team.
