Rock Brook School ~ Certified School Nurse (Full-Time or Part-Time)

The school nurse at Rock Brook serves as the primary advocate for the health and well being of students and staff within the school. Responsibilities include health screenings and services, emergency first aid, the care of those who are ill or injured while in the school, maintenance of digital health records, and student health instruction as needed.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The School Nurse at RBS will hold a critical school-based position and will work closely with students, families, staff members, and our school physician to ensure that the health needs of all students and staff are met. The School Nurse will provide healthcare and support to students in accordance with the regulations of the State Board of Education and the policies of the Rock Brook School. The School Nurse will be responsible for collecting and maintaining all student health and immunization records and for communicating all health-related issues to parents and guardians, staff and administration as appropriate.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major roles and responsibilities include:
- Provide oversight of classroom health aides
- Daily administration of medications as prescribed by physician
- Manage and complete all physical examinations and screenings required by law
- Supervise (or administer as needed) tube feedings as prescribed by physician
- Communicate all health-related issues with parents and school administration
- Collect and maintain required school immunization records
- Monitor medical records for each child, following up as needed
- Provide first-aid support in emergency situations to students, employees, and visitors
- Conduct periodic building inspections alongside administration
- Serve as point-person in regard to questions about the school health program
- Other duties as assigned by the school administration

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid New Jersey Registered Nurse license
- New Jersey School Nurse Standard Certificate or currently enrolled (or willing to enroll) in a program to attain NJ School Nurse certification
- Current (CPR) and (AED) training
- Experience working with students with learning differences and special needs
- Required criminal history background check, TB test and physical, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
Certification(s)
- Must hold a valid New Jersey educational services certificate in accordance with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 18A:27.1 et seq., and N.J.A.C. Title 6 Chapter 11 with a school nurse endorsement (N.J.A.C. 6:11-11.7) and other appropriate endorsement(s) in accordance with the requirements of N.J.A.C. 6:11-10.1 et seq.
- Holds a license as a registered professional nurse (RN) in New Jersey.
- Hold and maintain a current CPR certification and Professional Rescuer Certification.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
- Commensurate with education and experience (current full-time 10-month base salary range $72,000-$98,000)
