RESPONSIBLE TO: Facilities Manager
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATION:
- New Jersey Plumber License
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good communication skills
- Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, think critically and exercise good judgment.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Valid driver's license
- 10+ Years’ Experience
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status.
General Responsibilities:
Performs skilled work in the plumbing trade. Installs, maintains, and repairs fixtures, toilets, fountains, water lines, sewer systems, and irrigation equipment and systems.
Performs other maintenance duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:

- Installs, maintains and repairs plumbing such as water lines, sewer mains and laterals, valves, fittings and other fixtures.
- Evaluates repairs and modifies complex water systems, sewer ejector systems and well pumps.
- Makes emergency repairs and adjustments to plumbing equipment and apparatus in District buildings. Perform routine repairs such as to unplug plumbing fixtures and sewer, waste, and grease traps using hand snakes, plungers, enzymes, acids, and caustics. Replace sink, fountain, and shower faucet washers and exercise valves.
- Performs basic surveys to verify the availability of adequate water supply.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on related equipment.
- Cuts, threads, installs and bends piping.
- Maintenance or repairs may necessitate use of a ladder or mechanical lift.
- Assist with emergency response situations.
- Maintain and repair district machinery and athletic field equipment.
- Assist the Director of Facilities in creating and executing preventative maintenance programs.
- Obey all safety rules and regulations.
- Moves heavy items which might necessitate the lifting of heavy or bulky articles.
- Regularly load, lift or unload supplies and materials, equipment, etc from 50-75 lbs.
- Attends meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Monitors activities in and around work areas for the purpose of preventing injuries and ensuring site safety.
- Maintains tools and equipment inventory.
- When specific trade job is caught up, may be asked to assist in any phase of maintenance repair work, or any priority job that may arise.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Facilities Manager or Superintendent.
