Description

Title: Maintenance Mechanic  - Plumbing experience preferred

 

Qualifications:

  • Driver’s License required
  • High School Diploma preferred
  • Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC and Carpentry experience preferred
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 80 lbs.
  • Trade License or Black Seal License preferred
  • Required Criminal History Background check and proof of US Citizenship or Legal Resident Alien Status
  • Alternate Qualifications as the Board of Education deems acceptable
 

Reports To: Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds 

 

Job Goal: To maintain the school plant and general grounds in a condition that allows full educational use of the building at all times while providing students, staff and public with a safe, attractive, clean and efficient place in which to learn, work, play and interact.          

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 
  • Repair or replace all electrical equipment such as but not limited to switches, outlets, breakers, lighting fixtures and fan motors.
  • Repair or replace all plumbing fixtures, faucets, flush meter valves and perform other related plumbing repairs such as but not limited to sweating, threading of pipes and clearing drain stoppages.
  • Repair or replace shelves, cabinets, desks, chairs or other miscellaneous accessories.    
  • Repair or replace walls, ceilings, flooring and related trim molding.
  • Repair or replace doors, hardware and adjust/lubricate related components. Perform minor repairs or adjustments on windows. 
  • Perform maintenance service on all HVAC equipment such as but not limited to replacing filters, belts, motors or lubrication of related components.
  • Perform roof maintenance repairs such as flashing, caulking, re-coating and re-fastening related components.
  • Operate drills, saws, sanders and various other power tools. 
  • Use material handling equipment and safety equipment to promote safe work habits.
  • Use the proper equipment (step ladders, extension ladders and aerial equipment) and proper procedures so as to perform required duties and to safeguard the individual as well as the safety of others.
  • Drive district owned vehicles on and off school sites related to job responsibilities.
  • Identify and order parts for repairs needed to complete assigned work. Obtain purchase approval from Supervisor of B&G and/or Business Administrator.
  • Perform all necessary duties to maintain cleanliness and proper operation of tools, equipment and vehicles.
  • Maintains records of preventative maintenance service on plumbing, HVAC systems and other building components.
  • Submits completed work order forms in timely manner with material and labor listed properly.
  • Reports to Supervisor of B&G in timely manner any safety concerns or conditions in need of maintenance.
  • Assist in emergency repairs during non-duty hours as in accordance with negotiated agreement concerning voluntary overtime provisions.
  • Assist custodial and grounds staff with snow removal, sanding and salting duties during regular shift and non-duty hours as in accordance with negotiated agreement concerning voluntary overtime provisions.
  • Perform custodial or grounds staff duties when needed due to staff shortages or an emergency at the discretion of the Supervisor of B&G and/or the Business Administrator.
  • Perform such other related duties within job responsibilities as may be designated by the Supervisor of B&G and/or Business Administrator.
  • Comply with local and state laws for handling and storage of hazardous materials, disposal of trash and recycling requirements.
  • Comply with Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Hazard Communication Standard/Right To Know (HCS/RTK) regulations.
