Superintendent of Schools
The Mountainside School District, a Pre-K-8 district in Union County serving 740+ students in our close-knit, inclusive community, seeks a strong, visionary leader to help carry out its continued commitment to academic and social achievement for all students. The district operates with a $22M budget and includes Beechwood School for grades PreK-2, Deerfield School, a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School for grades 3-8, and as part of a send-receive relationship, our high school students attend Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights. The successful candidate will have proven experience and success in the creation and implementation of curriculum, innovative instructional approaches, and professional development. They should also be skilled in financial management, communication, and educational technology.
The ideal candidate will foster strong partnerships with personnel, community, and the Board of Education to create an engaging and supportive learning environment for all students. Qualifications:
- NJ School Administrator Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility required
- Experience as a Superintendent, Principal, or other relevant administrative experience required
- 5 years teaching experience required; background in grades K-8 preferred
- Proven use of student achievement data to drive curriculum and instruction required
- Experience with Special Education preferred
- Experience with school budgeting and facilities oversight helpful
- Familiarity with a send/receive structure a plus
Salary commensurate with education and experience; subject to NJ State regulations.
