The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Department Chairperson – Career Technical Education.



QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. New Jersey Standard Supervisor’s Certificate.
  3. New Jersey Standard Career Technical Education (CTE) Teaching Certificate.
  4. Three (3) years successful teaching experience in Vocational Ed.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods.
  6. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
  7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  8. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status. *As defined in N.J.A.C. 6A:9-9 Instructional certificates

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

I. Management and Coaching of Instructional Staff
  1. Observes, coaches, and evaluates assigned faculty and provides ongoing professional development for targeted improvement in identified growth areas.
  2. Completes all Teach NJ Educator Effectiveness activities (IPDP/CAP, observations, and evaluations) according to district’s guidelines.
  3. Assumes the orientation and mentor responsibilities of all novice teachers.
  4. Monitors the implementation and/or the expansion of school-based CTE programs.
  5. Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards for curriculum, assessment and instruction.
  6. Ensures that all CTE teachers are properly certified.
  7. Ensures that all students have opportunities to obtain industry certifications associate with School-based CTE programs.

II. Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
  1. Serves as the leader and expert in the area of Career Technical Education.
  2. Supports School level implementation of CTE curriculum guides.
  3. Ensures assigned faculty is properly equipped with district approved curriculum resources.
  4. Reviews and approves lesson plans, assessments, and grades, and certifies alignment to the State’s Standards with articulation, integration, and implementation of district approved curriculum through and across grade levels and content areas.
  5. Conducts model lessons that demonstrate best practices and differentiated techniques for exemplary implementation of various learning objectives.
  6. Collaborates with Teaching and Learning in the research and implementation of best practices in curriculum, instruction, and student assessments.
  7. Prepares, analyzes, and communicates quarterly student achievement data reports and makes program recommendations according to student needs.
  8. Collaborates with the Principal and Vice Principal(s) in adhering to the secondary course sequence and scheduling guidelines for college and career readiness.
  9. Assumes teaching responsibilities in areas identified by the principal, when necessary.

III. Student Life and Family Support
  1. Promotes and leads a positive school-wide climate and culture for students and staff that results in school and class pride while fostering student academic achievement.
  2. Engages families and community stakeholders to actively participate in the vision and mission of the school and district.
  3. Advances gifted and at-promise students with supports to their academic and social and emotional needs by facilitating access to interventions and student activities that result in academic achievement and student leadership.
  4. Monitors implementation of Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Prevention/ Early Intervention (I&RS) action steps to ensure full compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  5. Recommends and monitors the implementation of positive behavior supports to ensure a positive school-wide climate and scholarly culture that result in school-wide academic achievement.

III. Organizational Leadership
  1. Establishes and executes organizational systems and strategies to monitor student, faculty, school, and district goals.
  2. Develops and monitors strategies for high level collaboration among faculty and staff.
  3. Communicates effectively and maintains a positive disposition in all circumstances to ensure an outcome that promotes student academic achievement, faculty and staff professional development, and school-wide success.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
  5. Leads/facilitates CTE professional development for instructional staff.

REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL

SALARY, EMPLOYMENT PERIOD, AND UNION AFFILIATION

  1. Salary: Compensation is competitive and based on experience. The salary range for this position is $92,000 - $128,000.
  2. Employment Period: VP Calendar
  3. Union Affiliation: City Association of Supervisors and Administrators (C.A.S.A.)
