Maternity Leave First Grade Teacher  

Job Description:    
The Mine Hill School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated First Grade Teacher to fill a temporary maternity leave position. The ideal candidate will provide engaging and effective instruction, foster a nurturing and supportive classroom environment, and maintain strong communication with parents, students, and staff.   Experience with Reader's and Writer's Workshop prefered.  

Responsibilities
  • Deliver developmentally appropriate and engaging instruction in core subjects (Math, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies) aligned with district curriculum and state standards.  
  • Develop lesson plans aligned to the district curriculum and NJSLS
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports students' academic, social, and emotional growth.  
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including students with IEPs or 504 Plans.  
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and assessment tools to monitor student progress and guide instruction.  
  • Manage classroom routines, behavior expectations, and transitions effectively.  
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance and attendance.  
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.  
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational experience for all students.  
  • Integrate technology into instruction to enhance learning experiences.  
  • Participate in professional development and staff meetings as required.  mplete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

 Qualifications?, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Valid New Jersey Teaching Certification (Elementary Education).  
  • Experience teaching or student teaching at the elementary level, preferably in first grade.  
  • Strong understanding of child development and early literacy and numeracy instruction.  
  • Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.  
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and work as part of a team.  
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Knowledge of Google Classroom and other educational technology is a plus.  
Education
  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Experience
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels a plus.
