Part Time Supervisor of Special Services 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. New Jersey DOE Supervisor Certificate

2. Child Study Team Experienced Required

3. Successful Teaching Experienced Preferred

4. Knowledge of instructional programs

5. Thorough understanding of state and federal laws, regulations, and policies

6. Knowledge of requirements and responsibilities of service providers

7. Knowledge of 192/193 services and non-public nursing

8. Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills

9. Superior organizational skills

10. Experience with staff evaluation


REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist in the supervision, observation, and evaluation of special education teaching staff, child study team members, paraprofessionals, and therapists.

2. Coordinate the selection, acquisition and distribution of instructional materials, supplies and other teaching aides to teaching staff.

3. Assist with assignment of teachers and paraprofessionals to designated public and non-public locations and with student/teacher schedules.

4, Plan and implement in-service training to teaching staff for improvement of instruction, teaching strategies, and any other assessed needs.

5. Conduct monthly meetings with instructional staff.

6. Participate in state and county special education meetings, as assigned.

7. Assist in the orientation of instructional and non-instructional staff.
8. Provide input in writing grant proposals, applications and state reports.
9. Provide administrative support in district school buildings when needed
10. Coordinate activities to maintain compliance with state mandates regarding staff development and curriculum.
11. Act as a resource person for administrative and teaching staff with respect to record keeping, curriculum implementation, testing, schedules, yearly calendars, lesson plans and additional non-instructional tasks.
12. Prepare internal reports as required.
13. Recruit, interview, and hire teaching and paraprofessional staff for instructional positions in public and non-public schools.
14. Work closely and collaboratively with other departments including Human Resources, the Business Office, public and non-public school administrators.
15. Assist the Director of Special Services, as needed.
16. Perform any other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time, 12 months
